How the interaction occurs:
Ciprofloxacin may slow down how quickly your liver processes clozapine.
What might happen:
The amount of clozapine in your blood may increase and cause more side effects, such as a fast heartbeat, weakness, fatigue, dizziness, increased salivation, or decreased breathing.
What you should do about this interaction:
If you notice an increase in side effects, notify your healthcare professionals (e.g. doctor or pharmacist). Your doctor may want to change the dose of your clozapine while you are taking ciprofloxacin, or your doctor may want to change your antibiotic.Your healthcare professionals may already be aware of this interaction and may be monitoring you for it.
