Tom Tancredo on Health Care
Tom Tancredo's health care policy, like many of his campaign stands, reflects his strong stance on the problems linked to illegal immigration. He believes that immigration enforcement would drive down costs by reducing the amount of money spent on immigrants' health care. The conservative also looks to the private sector to find answers to the problems of the health care insurance market for Americans: availability and cost. But he does not rule out government subsidies for those out of work. A long-time pro-life advocate, he also would restrict funds for embryonic stem cell research.

Health Insurance: Private/Government
- Do not look to the government to provide health care because national health plans increase costs and decrease quality.
- Encourage association health plans, enabling small businesses to band together for lower cost insurance.
- Provide relief to the unemployed primarily through the states, but don't rule out federal incentives or subsidies to cover families in need.
Medical Costs
- Enact malpractice reform to drive costs down.
- Enforce immigration laws to reduce costs for illegal immigrants' health care and save money in the health care system.
Health Savings Accounts
- Encourage eligibility and higher savings limits for health savings accounts.
