Understanding Macular Degeneration -- Symptoms

What Are the Symptoms of Macular Degeneration?

  • Gradual dimming of central vision, especially while reading
  • Distorted vision, straight lines that appear wavy
  • Sudden loss of central vision

Call Your Doctor About Macular Degeneration If:

  • You have never seen an ophthalmologist or optometrist and you experience any of the symptoms listed above
  • You have been diagnosed with age-related macular degeneration and then discover blank spots in your field of vision, printed material that appears distorted, or straight lines that appear wavy; you may be developing the advanced wet form of macular degeneration. See an ophthalmologist or retinal specialist immediately if this occurs.
