1. The most-shared story was an alert about a major ground beef recall due to E. coli risk. More than 60,000 pounds of ground beef were involved -- and everyone wanted to know if it was in their refrigerator or freezer.
2. A possible -- but far from proven -- link between cell phones and cancer claimed the No. 2 spot. It's easy to see why this was so popular: About 5 billion people worldwide use cell phones, according to the article.
3. A slideshow on what smoking does to your looks ranked third.  Of course, you already knew that smoking is bad for your heart and lungs. But smoking damage also shows up on your face.
4. The No. 4 spot went to the dogs -- literally. It's a slideshow about foods dogs should never eat -- see why raisins, milk, chocolate, avocadoes, and other foods are off Fido's menu.
5. Another dangerous food -- cantaloupes tainted with listeria -- rounded out the list. At least 29 people have died in the outbreak of listeria-tainted cantaloupes, according to the CDC. For anyone with a cantaloupe in their refrigerator or deli salad bar, this was must-read information.
