Co-op plan

Known mainly as co-op plans, consumer operated and oriented plans were set up under the Affordable Care Act. Co-ops give you another choice if you are looking for health insurance you can afford. If a co-op makes a profit, that money has to go toward reducing your monthly fee or improving your coverage. Co-ops must meet the same standards as other licensed health plans in your state. Only some states offer co-op plans.
