Health Care Reform:

Health Insurance & Affordable Care Act

Back to ACA Health Insurance Terms List

PPACA stands for the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. You may also hear it referred to as simply the Affordable Care Act. This is one of two pieces of legislation that make up the health care reform law. The other piece of the law is the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act or HCERA.

The goals of the PPACA are to ensure more people have health insurance, reduce the cost of care, and improve how patients get care. See Affordable Care Act.
