When Joan Dragolic (druhh GO lick) retired, she wasn’t ready to slow down.
I really feel that sitting on the front porch and rocking is going to kill you real fast!
So on hot summer days, you can find Joan kicking up her heels at Sesame Place.

I walked in the door, Elmo was standing there. So I said, ‘Oh wow, I would like to work with you, Elmo!’
She’s part of a large population — seniors who work, a group that brings strong job skills to the table.
It’s a very social job and the younger workforce doesn’t have those social skills to start off with necessarily, because they haven’t had the experience.
About 16-percent of adults age 65 and older work, some in physically demanding jobs, but age doesn’t have to limit options.
When they’re interviewed, they’re given a list of what the requirements are and they can tell us if they feel they can do that or not.
Beyond a paycheck and sometimes health benefits, senior employees find other positives, including social interaction.
They are vibrant and doing something, and really being active, and they’ve told me, definitely, keeps them younger.
That’s part of the attraction that keeps Joan returning to this attraction.
It makes my heart happy.
And it’s a job that puts a spring in her step. For WebMD, I’m Sandee LaMotte.
