Should I use the same surgeon for multiple procedures?
The concept of having two cosmetic procedures at the same time makes a lot of sense. It's economical of time, of dollars, the recovery time is the same, but the question is should you have one or two surgeons. There is a trend now because of the high degree of specialization, particularly in the more sophisticated areas frankly, that you have two surgeons, one for the nose, and one for the breasts. It makes all the sense in the world. That is a trend that will grow, but it will grow only when patients are so sophisticated as to raise that issue. And the question will be, doctor I know you do great nose jobs, but I want to have my breasts done. Do you think there is anybody better than you are at breasts? And I think that the doctor with the integrity that you want will say, well you know, there is. Doctor Smith down the hall, or Doctor Smith across the street is very focused on breasts and I will ask that that doctor see you. And of course, you need to have a consultation. There's no rubber stamping here because Dr. Smith has to be comfortable that everything is right and in place. It's a wonderful way to practice. And I think what counts is it's good for the patient. That is the theme that should be the underpinning of any medical practice. What do we do, and what we do, is it best for the patient. What's good for the patient is what's good for the practice.
