Military wife, Tobie Perry, has her hands full with two kids under two. But it's the stretch marks from her back-to-back pregnancies she's here to battle today.
My stomach looks like a brain. It's bad. It's really, really bad.
A stretch mark basically is called a stretch mark because the skin has stretched a little bit and what has happened is the collagen right under the skin has become damaged and elongated.
During a series of treatments, Doctor Robert Weiss uses a fractional laser to deliver energy to the trouble spots.
What you're doing is gently taking that collagen, hitting it with these little tiny pinpoints of light and creating new collagen that is gonna replace the damage.
This is Tobie's first treatment, and in just a few minutes, you can see a response.
You'll feel a little bit of stinging, but it won't interfere with work and you can just go back right back to what you were doing.
The results can last for years, and Doctor Weiss adds the newer the stretch mark, the easier it is to repair.
Typically with new stretch marks in younger patients I think we can get at least 50 percent improvement. Sometimes even 75, 80 percent. I've been very impressed.
Tobie hopes to impress, too. Her husband is due home from combat soon. For WebMD, I'm Damon Meharg.
