Every winter Diane Hocking's feet remind her of a dry desert.
The bottom of my feet, they get like cactus. They feel like cactus around the edges and the heel.
She's not alone. A lot of us snag our socks on parched skin during the winter months.
One of the common problems we see is primarily as simple as dry feet.
Dry air at home, heat blowing in the car, and more contribute to the scaly condition.
Also you're taking hotter showers and not drying off properly.
All this adds up to skin that isn't as soft as a baby's behind.
It's almost like chapped hands of the feet, that's how it would be equivalent to. The same type of little cracks and breaks in the skin are painful.
Pampering your skin back to its supple self can include a professional pedicure, or you can do it yourself.
You can take foot file home and use it in your shower two or three times a week and that also helps.
And then follow the doctor's orders to restore order to your soles.
Wash your feet well, dry them well and then apply the moisturizer. That would help keep that under control.
Advice that can help bring your feet out of sock hibernation. For WebMD, I'm Sandee LaMotte.
