Atherosclerosis

Atherosclerosis, sometimes called hardening of the arteries, occurs when fat (cholesterol) and calcium build up in the inner lining of the arteries, forming a substance called plaque. Over time, the plaque buildup narrows the artery and blocks blood flow through it.
