Baby walkers

Many parents believe that using a walker will speed their baby's ability to walk. This is not true. In fact, the use of a walker often interferes with the time a baby needs to learn to crawl and walk alone.

Walker injuries can include pinches and falls. Walkers can cause severe accidents, such as a fall down a flight of stairs.

As many as 35% of babies who use a walker will have an injury from the walker. In the United States, the use of baby walkers is not recommended. In Canada, it is illegal to sell, advertise, or import baby walkers.
