Blister, painful sore, or purple skin discoloration after a bite or sting

A blister, painful sore, or purple skin discoloration can develop within several hours of a poisonous spider or insect bite. If skin discoloration or a sore is caused by a bite or sting, you may feel sick. Medication to counteract the effects of the venom (antivenom) may be needed.
