Dorsal penile nerve block (DPNB) anesthesia for circumcision

Dorsal penile nerve block (DPNB) or penile nerve block anesthesia is used to numb the penis during circumcision. A health professional injects a numbing medication (such as lidocaine) at the 10 and 2 o'clock positions at the base of the penis. The injections may cause some pain or bruising.
