Fever with swelling, pain, redness, or warmth in or around a joint
A fever and symptoms of infection in or around a joint may mean that a serious joint, bursa, or bone infection is present. Other symptoms may include:
- New swelling.
- Severe pain.
- Sudden redness.
- Warmth in or around a joint.
- Decreased movement of joints because of severe pain.
- Drainage of pus.
A fever and signs of infection around a joint needs immediate medical care.
