Melanoma excision: Final

Small excisions may be closed with stiches, while larger excisions may require skin grafts. This picture shows the usual shape of the scar after surgery to remove a melanoma. Other ways of removing the melanoma can leave a scar shaped a little like the letter "Z" or a round scar.
