Other antifungal medications for ringworm of the skin
Besides azoles and allylamines, several antifungal medicines that you
apply to your skin (topical) are available to treat
ringworm.
Tolnaftate (Tinactin) is available without a
prescription and comes in lotion, cream, gel, and spray forms. It requires
twice-a-day application and is effective against most ringworm
infections.
Haloprogin (Halotex) is a prescription cream that kills
a broad spectrum of fungi, including yeasts. You apply it twice a
day.
Ciclopirox (Loprox) is effective against fungi, yeast, and
some bacteria. It is available in cream and liquid forms and should be used
twice a day.
