Resistance Training

Resistance training is a type of exercise for muscle fitness. It is often called weight training, but it includes exercising with stretch bands as well as weights.

Muscles become stronger when they have to work against, or resist, something.

When this type of training is combined with aerobic exercise, such as walking or running, it makes the heart healthier. And it helps control weight. It means the heart doesn't need to work as hard during daily activities, such as carrying groceries or shoveling snow.
