COPD: Tracking Diet and Treatments

To manage COPD well, you need to actively participate in treatment. One way to help your doctor is to monitor your COPD symptoms daily.

Keeping a daily written log may help you recognize a COPD exacerbation. You’ll notice it when breathlessness and other COPD symptoms suddenly worsen. This may allow you to get early medical treatment when treatment is most effective. Without aggressive medical treatment, a COPD exacerbation can rapidly accelerate the loss of lung function.

With early detection of a change in COPD symptoms and proper medical treatment, a person with COPD can learn to self-manage these symptoms and do the things that make life enjoyable.
