From Your No. 1 Health Advocate
That’s why I want to applaud you and give you a solid "You go, girl (or guy)" for being responsible about your health or that of someone you love. Health is our most precious commodity –– especially when you realize that means not just when you are sick but when you are well, too, in body, mind, and spirit. On those days when all three are in tune, life is good. When they aren’t, my advice is to fortify the spirit first through knowledge and love, and then the rest will follow.
Take our inspiring cover star as an example. NASCAR champ Jeff Gordon, whose day job includes racing around a track at 180 mph, recently retooled his diet, stress levels, and on-the-go lifestyle with some smart health moves so that he can not only maintain his winning streak but keep up with his daughter, Ella Sofia, who just turned 1.
"I realized I had to start treating my body with the same care I treat my car if I wanted it to perform," he tells us. How true that is.
Gordon also cares deeply about the health of others. Since 1999, his foundation has raised funds and provided support for organizations devoted to treating and caring for children with chronic illnesses, such as leukemia and other cancers. Gordon himself has appeared before Congress to press the importance of pediatric research. Read all about this inspiring NASCAR legend!
