Mark J. Pellegrino, MD

Mark J. Pellegrino, MD is a board-certified specialist in both Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Electrodiagnostic Medicine. He completed his training at The Ohio State University Hospitals where he received several awards including Phi Beta Kappa, Alpha Omega Alpha, and Chief Resident. During his residency, he was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and became interested in this disorder. He published several research articles on fibromyalgia including Familial Occurrence of Primary Fibromyalgia, Prevalence of Mitral Valve Prolapse in Primary Fibromyalgia: A Pilot Investigation and Atypical Chest Pain as an Initial Presentation of Primary Fibromyalgia. Upon completion of his residency, he returned to his hometown of Canton, Ohio where he has been in private practice since 1988.

Pellegrino has been Medical Director for two hospital's rehabiliation units. He is a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine. He has been selected for inclusion of "Best Doctors in America" for 1998-1999 and has received an Arthritis Foundation Hero Overcoming Arthritis Award.

His special interest remains in treating fibromyalgia and he has seen over 10,000 patients with this problem over the years, making him one of the most experienced fibromyalgia specialists in the world. He has authored numerous books on fibromyalgia, including Fibromyalgia, Managing the Pain, The Fibromyalgia Survivor, Understanding Post-Traumatic Fibromyalgia, and The Fibromyalgia Supporter. He has given numerous lectures across the United States and abroad and he is known for his hopeful and caring approach to treating fibromyalgia, and his emphasis on education and humor.
