Laura McVey spends a lot of time at the dentist office.
When I was a child, I got very poor dental care. The dentist was very bad and caused a lot of pain.
So as a young adult, she avoided those six-month check-ups.
Fearing the pain and then I was also embarrassed because my teeth were in not good shape and that's an embarrassment to go in to the dentist like that.
I have a little problem on this tooth. There's a little puffiness and some bleeding.
Laura finally turned to Doctor Trucia Drummond for help.
She's been a very receptive patient, once we got past the, the fear factor. And a lot of people have a fear factor.
The Chicago Dental Society recently listed these top five signs that it's time to see a dentist. Bleeding gums, sensitivity to hot, cold or sweet food and drinks, chronic bad breath, puffy, red or receding gums and dark spots or holes in your teeth.
Everything should be checked out and sometimes the warning signs aren't as obvious as they could be. So people let things go when they shouldn't always.
After years of neglect, Laura's teeth needed a lot of work.
But it's been pain-free and very successful. But it has cost a lot of money.
Still it was all worth it.
She's happy. She's healthy. And she doesn't mind coming to the dentist.
Today, Laura has a gleaming mouth-full of reasons to smile.
That looks great.
