Tips, Information, and Insights on Joint Pain and Treatment from the WebMD Knee & Hip Replacement Community

A WebMD Community member has a question about getting back to the gym after a total knee replacement. It's been just over 3 weeks since her surgery. She says her staples are out and her incision seems to be healing well. She'd like to start exercising and also go into the heated therapy pool. But she doesn't want to push it.

Other community members weighed in. One said the doctor told her to wait at least 4 weeks before taking long baths or showers. Another member agreed about avoiding the water. All the members who commented suggested talking to the doctor before exercising or visiting the therapy pool. Your doctor, after all, can tell you how well you're recovering and when you're ready to take the next steps.
