Most symptoms are easily treated. It's diagnosing the underlying problem that's complicated, according to chiropractor William Madosky (Mah-DOSS-kee).
The spinal joints are involved, the nerves are involved, the discs, the ligaments and the muscles, all in combination.
There are diagnostic tests – from simple x-rays to high-tech body scans. Better yet, try to avoid back pain in the first place.
Look at how you sit, how you stand, how you carry things, and try to minimize pressure that you can place on the back that will cause reinjury.
Keep good posture and overall muscle tone. And watch your weight. Those extra pounds can put stress on your back. Some common sense tips for a very common problem.
