Pamela R. Yoder, MD, PhD, FACOG

Pamela R. Yoder, MD, PhD, FACOG, is actively helping both consumers and healthcare providers use the Internet to assess health risks, promote wellness, guide self-care, and learn about disease. She is involved in electronic media as the women's health editor of WebMD, creating, selecting, and presenting authoritative health and wellness information that patients and their caregivers can trust. Yoder's stories are among the most highly read of any health stories on the Internet.

She is a veteran physician and teaches at the University of Illinois in medicine and kinesiology. Since completing her training, Yoder has been a teacher and practicing physician for over 13 years, focusing on complicated pregnancies, ultrasound, general ob-gyn, and women's health. She has been a member of the faculty in the medical schools at Tufts University, University of Chicago, University of Illinois at Chicago, and Medical University of South Carolina. Yoder has also served as a physician-executive over the past decade and sits on the board of directors of the Friends of the National Library of Medicine. She is a speaker at national meetings on healthcare and the Internet and on health and fitness. Her television appearances include WLS-TV in Chicago, and she has been an interviewer for global webcasts. Yoder has frequently written articles for patients and physicians and has been featured in interviews that have been published in magazines and journals and on the Internet.

A fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Yoder is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist and maternal-fetal medicine specialist and also a licensed psychologist. She was an honors student during her years at the University of Illinois, where she earned her BS with honors and her medical degree while at the college of medicine in Chicago. Yoder went to the University of Kansas to complete an internship in clinical psychology and a PhD in child and developmental psychology, and she was a resident in obstetrics and gynecology for four years at the Ohio State University Hospitals. After that she went to California for specialty training in pregnancy complications, studying perinatal biology at Loma Linda University Medical Center and completing her fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at the University of Southern California/Los Angeles County Medical Center. As a lifelong student, she has studied computing, economics, and business over the past three years.

Yoder's greatest accomplishment is being the midlife mother of an 8-year-old boy. In her spare time, she likes to read, play tennis, and explore the world with her son.
