Enjoy the Moment

Finally, here’s the hardest lesson of all, which I’m guessing you haven’t learned: How to be in and enjoy the moment.

Parenting is so hard and so worrisome. It’s impossible not to get caught up in what to do next and next and next, how to get through the day, really. But, trust me on this, one day it will all have gone by so fast and you’ll regret how rarely you kept your perspective and took the time to step back and survey the scene and enjoy and appreciate what was going on while it was happening. No one really knows where this all going and so I’ve learned it’s important to learn to enjoy the ride as much as you can, no matter where the final destination ends up.

So, as you embark on the second year of discovering just who this little person might be, here’s my advice: Step back and enjoy the ride!
