Melty, cheesy goodness… Everybody loves good macaroni and cheese, but it's not exactly the healthiest thing to eat every day.

Are there healthier options for yummy side dishes?

You bet! See the tasty part isn’t the macaroni itself, but the cheese, so a good first step - swap out the pasta!

You can replace it with steamed cauliflower, which has a similar texture, and very little taste of its own, like the pasta.

Or even try an alternative pasta - one made with rice flour or quinoa.

Try a lower-fat cheese, skim milk, and go easy on the salt.

Put it all together and bake in the oven, and you've got a melty, gooey side dish the kids will love. So the next time you reach for that mac n cheese in a box, think about ways to make this a healthier choice!
