Should I feed a newborn on a schedule or on demand?
Well, there's a lot of debate about this and the bottom line is, I'm of the child center approach. Let your newborn tell you when she wants to eat. She'll let you know usually with rare exceptions. She going to wake up, she's going to cry, she's going to be hungry. And she's going to eat when she's hungry. Personally I see no advantage of a schedule. I don't think it makes the kids more regular in their habits than babies who aren't. That feeds them when they're not hungry. It doesn't meet their needs when they want it. I just don't see any advantage to it. So, my feeling is, trust your baby. She's going to eat enough to grow. She's going to tell you when she's hungry. She's going to eat as much as she needs. She's going to stop when she's not hungry. She's running the show not you, and you might as well face it.
