Why do babies spit up and is it normal?
Babies are just spitters. They're just little spitting creatures. The reason usually is there is a little valve from the tube that goes down into the stomach called the esophagus. That closes up and prevents us from spitting up so we eat and it goes down and it stays in our stomach but for babies sometimes that valve is just open. And so milk can just come back, and go up and down, and up and down, and they just spit up. If they're just happy little spitters as many are then it's just not a problem as long as they're growing well. But it's very common for babies to spit and usually after a couple of months, not always, and there can be problems but for happy spitters the valve closes up it tightens up and the spitting stops. Blessedly, and you stop smelling like curdled milk.
