Robert C. Palumbo, MD

Robert C. Palumbo, MD, is currently the director of sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery at Florida Hospital. He is board certified in orthopaedic surgery and fellowship trained in sports medicine of the knee and shoulder, foot and ankle surgery.

Dr. Palumbo has the distinction of having completed two one-year fellowships in sports medicine and foot and ankle surgery, respectively. His dual subspecialty training along with years of experience treating injuries in athletes, performers and dancers have earned him his reputation for expertise in this area. After completing his orthopaedic surgery residency at UMDNJ-RW Johnson Medical School (formally Rutgers Medical School) in New Jersey, Dr. Palumbo went to Baltimore for his fellowship in sports medicine. There, he was involved in the care and treatment of athletes at all levels of training. He received extensive training in both arthroscopic and open methods of knee, shoulder and elbow surgery. He has since published many articles and is currently a reviewer for the American Journal of Sports Medicine.

Dr. Palumbo completed his second fellowship year at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. There he trained extensively in treating the entire spectrum of adult foot and ankle disorders, including injuries in elite runners, professional athletes and ballet dancers.

Dr. Palumbo has been practicing in the central Florida area since 1994. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society and the International Association of Dance Medicine and Science.
