What is JUVÉDERM™?
JUVÉDERM™ injectable gel is a smooth-consistency gel made of hyaluronic acid—a naturally occurring substance in your skin that helps to add volume and hydration. Your healthcare provider eases JUVÉDERM™ injectable gel under the skin to instantly restore your skin's volume and smooth out facial wrinkles and folds, like those parentheses around your mouth. (Medically known as the nasolabial folds, these are the creases that run from the bottom of your nose to the corners of your mouth.)
Are aesthetic injectable products such as JUVÉDERM™ safe?
JUVÉDERM™ is approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which requires that extensive studies be conducted to prove that treatments, such as JUVÉDERM™ injectable gel are safe and effective.
JUVÉDERM™ was approved in Europe in 2000 and Canada in 2002. It received approval from the US Food and Drug Administration in 2006 and, subsequently, became the only hyaluronic acid filler FDA-approved to last up to 1 year.* JUVÉDERM™ injectable gel is generally well tolerated. The most commonly reported side effects are temporary injection-site redness, swelling, pain/tenderness, firmness, lumps/bumps, and bruising.
How much does a JUVÉDERM™ treatment cost?
JUVÉDERM™ injectable gel treatments typically range from $600 to $700 per syringe. On average, patients receive approximately 1 syringe per treatment. The cost of this treatment—based on results that last up to 1 year—is between $2 and $2.50 per day.
Will the results look natural and will my face still be expressive?
Treatments such as JUVÉDERM™ can enhance your natural look. JUVÉDERM™ injectable gel works by instantly filling in and smoothing out the wrinkles and folds on your face. When administered by an experienced injector, your face should have a natural look and feel with the ability to move and show expression.
Since this is a technique-sensitive procedure, be sure to visit a well-trained healthcare provider who will listen to your concerns and take your desired results into consideration.
How long do JUVÉDERM™ injectable gel treatments last?
Treatments such as JUVÉDERM™ are temporary. However, JUVÉDERM™ injectable gel is the only hyaluronic acid filler that's FDA approved to last up to 1 year.*
Will my insurance cover the cost of aesthetic injectable treatments?
Insurance providers do not typically cover cosmetic procedures.
Is a treatment with JUVÉDERM™ painful?
JUVÉDERM™ injectable gel is injected directly into the skin using a fine needle to reduce injection discomfort. Your doctor may choose to numb (anesthetize) the treatment area to further minimize discomfort. Please be sure to discuss your options with your healthcare provider prior to treatment.
Is there scarring?
No reports of scarring were documented in clinical studies evaluating treatment with JUVÉDERM™ dermal fillers. Additionally, studies with JUVÉDERM™ injectable gel demonstrated no increased risk of hyperpigmentation in patients of color.
How long do aesthetic procedures such as JUVÉDERM™ take?
A JUVÉDERM™ treatment can be performed quickly and requires minimal downtime. Following a consultation with your healthcare provider, the procedure requires only a brief in-office visit and takes an average of 15 minutes to perform.
Does a treatment with JUVÉDERM™ injectable gel cause bruising or other side effects?
In clinical trials for JUVÉDERM™ injectable gel, most side effects were mild to moderate in nature, and lasted 7 days or less. The most commonly reported side effects are temporary injection-site redness, swelling, pain/tenderness, firmness, lumps/bumps, and bruising.
