Psoriasis flare-ups can be triggered by stress, injury to the skin, the use of alcohol, or by infections such as strep.
Keep Your Skin Moist and Lubricated
Apply a moisturizer within 3 minutes after your bath or shower to seal in moisture.
Avoid Scratching or Picking Your Skin
An injury to the skin can cause psoriasis patches to form anywhere on the body.
Limit Alcohol and Don't Smoke
Alcohol can trigger outbreaks of psoriasis. Smoking may make your symptoms more severe.
Relax Your Mind and Body
Do meaningful activities that you enjoy, such as gardening, writing, art, or volunteer work.
