Talk to Your Psoriasis Treatment Team
If you can't manage stress on your own, talk to your doctor. He or she may be able to refer you to a psychologist or counselor who can help.
- If you're experiencing serious side effects from treatment, tell your doctor immediately. Treatments can cause depression, fatigue, skin sensitivity, joint pain, and other symptoms. Your doctor may be able to help ease those unwanted side effects.
Find a Psoriasis Support Group
People recently diagnosed with psoriasis often benefit from talking to others who have the same disease. To find a psoriasis support group in your area, check with the National Psoriasis Foundation, which maintains a list of active support groups. The foundation also offers peer-to-peer mentoring, which connects people newly diagnosed with psoriasis with volunteers with long experience with the condition. Another great way to find support and information is by taking part in events such as walk-a-thons and benefits organized by the National Psoriasis Foundation or local groups in your area.
