8 Tips to Care for Your Psoriasis

Tip 6: Drink Moderately, or Not at All

Psoriasis is more common in people who drink heavily, and alcohol may affect men's psoriasis more than women's. More than one drink per day for women, and two drinks per day for men, is too much.

Tip 7: Consider Diet Changes

There is no solid evidence that any specific food makes psoriasis better or worse. At the same time, many people say their sores improved after cutting down on certain foods like sugar, white flour, gluten, and caffeine. It doesn't hurt to experiment, especially when you cut out not-so-healthy foods.

Tip 8: Tend to Your Mental Health

This is an often-overlooked part of managing psoriasis. It's important to keep your condition from hurting your self-esteem. If you do find that it's affecting your mental health, ask for help. Talk to a therapist, such as a psychologist or social worker.

Also consider joining a support group. Talking with other people who understand what you're going through can help.
