Most children who wet their beds tend to have no other symptoms. It’s typically a condition they outgrow when they have more bladder control. But it can be caused by medical or psychological problems that need treatment, like nervous system or kidney problems, or sleep apnea.

Signs of concern include:

  • Increased frequency or urgency of urination
  • Burning when urinating
  • Straining, dribbling, or other unusual symptoms with urination
  • Cloudy or pinkish urine, or blood stains on underpants or pajamas
  • Being unable to control bowel movements
  • Constipation
  • Wetting during the day
  • Significant behavioral changes
  • Emotional outbursts or withdrawal
