Tetanus Treatment

  • Go to a medical clinic or hospital emergency room for tetanus symptoms: rigid muscles and painful spasms, often starting in the jaw and neck.
  • The person will immediately receive an injection of immune globulin and a tetanus shot.
  • Muscle relaxants and sedatives may be required.
  • The person will require hospitalization, most likely in the intensive care unit.
