I had moderate hemorrhoids in about 1973, at age 43. Some bleeding, and itching. Our family doctor, Dr. George Mitchell, then of Rockville MD, just recommended 500 mg of rutin per day. He said that it greatly strengthens the walls of all the body's cells, and would shrink the veins and cause them to "go back where they came from." I've used this for a week and it caused dizziness,or lightheadedness. I almost fainted when i was at work. I was also taking calcium and vit d supplements at the time i was taking rutin.

I was introduced to rutin in 1974 by a woman who did not want to take blood pressure medication. It worked so well for her that she never informed her hospital consultant that she wasn't taking the BP medication.
