I can tell a great deal of difference in my mood and behaviors when I miss a day. When missed I am a lot more susceptible to feelings of doubt at work and quicker to anger at home with my spouse. i am currently taking 100 mg 5-HTP wi ... Show Full Comment

I have been taking 5-HTP on an off for depression/anxiety for nearly two years and it really is highly effective. As far as i'm concerned it's a real medication. I'd say my symptoms are improved by as much as 75%. It also helps with my insomnia because of the reduction in anxiety.

It made me feel very ill at ease. I've tried it on two different occasions and both times I had the same reaction. I took it because it is recommended for certain depression symptoms. It was a co ... I have battled depression for 15+ years. I have been prescribed every antidepressant on the market and have had very little success with any of them. Most made my depression worse or gave me side effects that were unbearable. A year ago I started taking 5 HTP and within 2 months my depression had vanished. For me this has been a miracle supplement. My depression is under control and I'm ba ... Show Full Comment
