Why does the article state that Niacin or Niacinamide,is the same thing, then it says Niacin lowers Cholesterol. Then later in the article it states that Niacinamide does not lower cholesterol? PLEASE EXPLAIN! Does Niacin lower LDL or not?

I have been taking Niaspan for 4 years with great results. In the beginning I experienced flushing and itching. The nurse at my Doctor's office recommended the normal 1 baby aspirin AND 4-6 tablespoons of applesauce 30 minutes before taking the Niaspan. This works extremely well to elimate the flushing and itching.
