I've only been taking red yeast rice for 2 weeks at the request of my GP. I do not yet know how it is working. Hence, the vagueness of my ratings. I really wanted to read other feedback at this point.

After taking this for about 90 days, I suddenly got extreme bloody noses with huge amounts of blood lost, two visits to the ER. There were no warnings on the website I bought it from about thyroid and liver issues. My cholesterol was averaging 230-250 for many years. I think it was primarily genetic as I have a reasonably good diet. My doctor suggested Red Yeast Rice. I have been taking the Xymogen brand for almost 5 years. My diet has improved slightly and a bit more exercise. My cholesterol is averaging about 190 now.
