After taking this for about 90 days, I suddenly got extreme bloody noses with huge amounts of blood lost, two visits to the ER. There were no warnings on the website I bought it from about thyroid and liver issues. My red cell levels dropped to 7 and I could barely walk, a trip to the bathroom affected me like a ten mile hike. I required two units of whole blood in order to bring my red cell co

I have been taking the Xymogen brand for almost 5 years. My diet has improved slightly and a bit more exercise. My cholesterol is averaging about 190 now. Red Yeast Rice was effective in lowering my cholesterol minimally. It did help my stomach, and I noticed less hot flashes while on it. I also did not have any problems with constipation. Now on Zocor and stomach aches, constipation and hot flashes are back.

I ran out of Red Yeast Rice and was out for about a month before a Dr. appointment and blood test showed cholesterol levels had risen. Up until the appointment cholesterol was under control with Red Rice Yeast.

My LDL was high and my HDL was low. I had serious side effects with statins. Reseached RYR and decided to get on it. My LDL is now 93, was 141, my HDL is 61 and my triglerides from 140 to 86. I take 1200mg twice a day. I swear by this stuff. No more nasty side effects.
