Currently taking Flomax also, and doctor suggested Avodart in addition. I chose to use beta sitosterol instead (with his permission). It does seem to improve the effectiveness of treatment with Flomax alone. I am currently taking 120 mg beta sitosterol b.i.d.

After a month of taking this, my BPH symptoms have improved. Stronger urination most of the time, and less urgency to go, especially when sleeping. No side effects that I can perceive. This is the main ingredient in saw palmetto, except it has much more. Take this in place of saw palmetto.

Comment:
I use Source Natural (from Vitacost) Mega Strength Beta Sitosterol 375 MG tablets. I have used this product for 2-3 years. I take 2 tabs three times a day and my prostate symptoms are back to normal-no urgency and minimal visits to the toilet during the night. Start by taking 1-2 pills per day and increase dosage as needed. It works quickly and reverses if you get off of the pills.
