I selected aging as the best match but a dentist did notice possible atrophy of my jaw bone in conjunction with gum recession. Also weak nails. I suspect I have weak connective tissue with a number of symptoms. Even at half the recommended dose I see robust effects on nail strength and hair lustre with Biosil, choline-stabilizedorthosilicic acid. Pricey but avoids risk of toxicity from horsetail derived silicon that may explain some side effects people report here I wonder. I have no side effects. I now use it in combination with other nutrients to boost connective tissue strength, which diminishes with age, vitaminsC,K2, K1 via spinach, collagen peptides, manganese (low dose, be careful), boron, magnesium, calcium, vitamin D. My gum recession was arrested now for over 5 years. Note collagen peptides tell the body connective tissue is being remodeled, make more collagen and elastin as opposed to simply acting as a precursor of collagen by raising proline and glycine.Read More Read Less

General flu like symptoms, fatigue, headaches since starting this supplement. Came on here to find possible side effects and found another comment where a couple experienced the same symptoms when they started using this. Is the reason there are no warnings about side effects because of the lack of research conducted?

Was drinking Fiji bottled water for several years (high silica content) and developed kidney stones. This was the only change I made in my diet, so the kidney stones may have been caused by drinking this water with such a high silica content (93 mg/serving). I made a 5x7 mm stone in 3 months, as confirmed by x-ray and ultrasound. Be careful with your kidneys if you choose to supplement with silica, whether it's in your water or taking a pill.

71 year old female with family history of osteoporosis. Took bisphonphonates for a decade which made no difference at all to my bone density. Started taking magnesium with calcium supplements and silica and just had bone scan which shows that my bone density is now above averageð???. Am delighted!

Female 68. Nails had been thin, weak for years. Tried a silicon brand you drop in water. In a few days I could tell my nails were getting better. After about 3 weeks it was pretty amazing. I was doing the recommended 10 drops a day but have cut back to 4 drops and so far haven't noticed a difference. I experienced no side affects. It made my nails grow ten faster and were much stronger

After 1 year of daily 6 to 10 mg. of orthosilicic acid Biosil or jarroSil, along with exercise and good nutrition: calcium, magnesium, K3 etc., my DEXA bone density showed significant improvement resulting in improving from Moderate Osteoporosis to Osteopenia.

Both my husband and myself started using this product about two weeks ago. We are experiencing flu like symptoms, extreme fatigue and generally feeling ill. I have also begun to experience break outs on my facial skin. We have only begun feeling this way after starting this supplement, so we strongly suspect it.

Used Silica supplement (one a day high dosage) for three months to treat hair loss due to menopause. Hair grew back, skin improved and nails were so hard they tended to break easily (draw back). Uncertain about long term use so decided to take a break. My son was experiencing earlier genetic baldness and los of hair quality. Same experience for him. Hair has thickened and hair grow back visible.
