Heed the warnings regarding interactions! I was using Gingko for three weeks to improve my memory. My Rhuematologist prescribed Ibuprofen twice daily for my arthritis and did not ask if I was taking anything. Two weeks later, a massive bruise suddenly appeared on my wrist. It was four inches across and travelled half way up my inner arm. It was hot to the touch and quite swollen. I had not inj...

After taking it in the morning for 2 weeks I noticed a pattern of extreme mid morning sleepiness. I thought maybe I was getting a cold but also stopped taking it. My symptoms disappeared. I decided today (2 weeks) later to take it again - same result. Sleepy to the point of not being able to function. I may try taking it at night. I also experienced constipation.

PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE STARTING: I started using it randomly as a supplement for aging. This is my observation after using for one month 120mg per day, It did helped in following things 1. Foggy vision to clear vision 2. Brain fog to present minded 3. Increase in libido and precum lubrication liquid 4. Some what Improvement in erection 5. Feeling of general wellness I said wow, never seen such a potent natural thing. Then came downside, got flu/respiratory illness and phelgem production started, quantity of phelgem was greater than what i normally used to have, than i started some what brownish phelgem, than one day my phelgem was blood stained, not red blood but dark and it was comming when phelgem shot out from deep inside with cough, so most probably from lungs? this was a new development and never in past had blood stained mucus in flu etc, I immediately googled for side effects of ginkgo and found that it may cause internal bleeding by inhibiting platelat activating factor, i started freaking out when i came across bleeding in brain. How stupid i was to start this without consulting my doctor. I stopped this immediately and after two days i dont see blood in phelgem. I hope no permanent damage is being done to lungs or brain. Guys this is a natural thing but not all natural things are harmless. Please please consult your doctor before starting this supplement. Further i may add here that i was not using any blood thinner like asprin etc during this episode. Read More Read Less

Besides the fact that individual effects invariably vary, the comment below from Zenfinite might be misleading as there were huge conflicts of interest declared at the bottom of the paper. In true science, nothing can be known for sure.

About a week after I started using ginkgo biloba I developed excruciating stomach pains which put me in a hospital for seven days. I had to have a stent put in my pancreas because I developed pancreatitis. Honestly I’m afraid to take it again.

Goes to show you how unreliable WebMD is. This article says that "Ginkgo doesn't seem to prevent dementia from developing or getting worse." I'm not sure when this was written but this research article says differently, when it comes to the EGb 761 type: Kandiah, N., Ong, P.A., Yuda T., (2019). Treatment of dementia and mild cognitive impairment with or without cerebrovascular disease: Expert consensus on the use of Ginko Biloba extract, EGb 761. CNS Neurosci Therapy, 25 (2): 288-298. You're taking ginkgo biloba for a couple of weeks I started feeling terrible. I have Crohn's disease and discovered it cause internal bleeding in my intestine I'm very disappointed that WebMD does not have that as a side effect or a warning so therefore I will not be using WebMD for anything in the future I learned about it watching 20/20 20 years ago it should be known by WebMD

I had to come off of my myalgia medication to take this, but my memory was so bad that I decided to risk it. In the last week, my memory has been much better and since it is a blood thinner, my myalgia has been completely tolerable. I'm experimenting here, so time will tell if this pattern will continue. The loss of memory has been debilitating and the Gingko has helped that quite a bit. Maybe my balance is better as well? It's definitely worth trying. I am bruising easily again,(not massive bruises), but I always did before they 'filled up' my iron stores; so that's a return to normal for me. It's not on the list here, but I by the Member's Mark brand from Sam's. I've had a lot of luck with Members Mark vitamins being much better than anything I can find in a typical store. My short term memory has never been good and my focus often impaired, but with the Gingko I function normally. Over the last 10 years I have taken 120 mg/day and at any time I run out or forget to take it after a few days, it is obvious that I need this suppliment.

I've been taking Rexall Ginkgo Biloba 120mg once a day for over 10 years now. I do technical work and I've noticed it does help my memory especially names and locations. Now that I'm in my 50's I'm considering upping my dosage.
