I am not 100% lactose intolerant but definitely lactose sensitive. I wasn't able to eat cereal with milk or coffee with milks or eat ice cream without getting shooting pains, cramping, gas pains..etc. Well I went and got cheap pills from CVS called Lactaid that contain lactase and it takes away ALL my symptoms. It works best before you eat but worst case scenario, I have taken it after and ill ...

After using lactaid for years, I believe it have weakened my teeth. The front tooth that I used to break the pill up and one of my right side molars that I chew it with has cracked and chipped pieces of the tooth/teeth off. I cannot find anything about this possible side effect. Never had any problems with my teeth before. Only 1 small cavity my whole life. Anyone else have this problem?

I have been using lactase tablets for around 2 years, perhaps longer. I have 5000 FCC tablets and take 1 or 2 depending on how much dairy I intend on eating; this is enough - I soon know if it isn't!! Lactase tablets are an absolute godsend, helping myself and those around me.

Took for lactose intolerance as dairy causes me to be very bloated and gassy. The first couple times I took the pills they worked fine, after that EVERYTIME I took them I became violently sick. Vomiting, diarehha, chills to the point of exhaustion. Please be careful taking these and look up other reviews online. My experience is not overly rare and it should be listed as a potential side effect.

Like many other reviewers I’m currently experiencing some rough side effects. Nausea, pain, bloating, chills and shivering, and vomiting/retching, etc. These are much worse than the sickness that comes from just eating dairy. This possibility is not listed any where on the packaging, but if you look you will find a ton of negative reviews that say the same thing. Very unpleasant and upsetting. Can absolutely ruin your night.

I take Lactaid white oblong pills sometimes when I know I'm about to eat a food that makes me get bad symptoms. The pills work. I read one of the viewers comments about the pills maybe ruining their teeth. It sounded like they were chewing them. The pills are meant to be swallowed not chewed. Swallow them. Chewing them might of caused the teeth to decay some....I dunno. But I do know that lactose intolerance lowered my vitamin D level way too low dangerously low. I became vitamin D deficient which caused my perfect teeth to decay at a fast rate and made me very tired. If it gets too low you could have a heart attack etc. So Take a good D3 supplement to raise your Vitamin D levels back up so your teeth won't do that anymore and you won't lose bone in your body as fast either with age. My Dr. Put me on a good vitamin D3 supplement dose of 5,000 IU at first then lowered the dosage later to 2,000 IU. And now I'm taking 1,000 IU. He ran Vitamin D blood tests off and on to see what it had raised up to as we went along. My teeth stopped decaying and breaking off. Get a vitamin D blood test done. Read More Read Less

I currently use Equate fast acting Dairy Digestive dietary supplement purchased at WalMart. I've been lactose intolerant for two or three decades. I started out using Lact-Aid at a lower dose level, but now use the stronger 9000 units dose. It completely resolves my intolerance problem. I now am able to drink 12 ounces of cocoa made with milk every breakfast without problems, as well as large amounts of cheese at other times of day. On those rare occasions I forget my lactase pill, I have explosive diarrhea, so I'm well aware that my problem is severe without the enzyme.Read More Read Less

I developed lactose intolerance after the age of 60. This medication allows me to eat some dairy.

I became lactose intolerant nearly three years ago. I started taking lactase pills (the generic chewable pills you can get at Walmart) and they work wonderfully. I try to limit how much dairy I take in, but these pills allow me to enjoy dairy again.

I now could literally each a whole gallon of ice cream or drink an entire jug of milk without any pain if I make sure to take the lactase pills with it. I definitely recommend anyone that's sensitive to dairy products to give it a try. I'm SO glad that did... It's amazing!!Read More Read Less

I had mild lactose intolerance in the past, but it has become much worse recently, which led to my search for a supplement to east the symptoms. After reading the other reviews posted here, I tried Lactase enzyme supplement and it works like a charm! I've only used it for two days, but it has made a huge difference. Thank you!

Lactase over the counter pills can be easily carried with a person & taken while eating out to prevent symptoms of lactose intolerance. Watch the dosage on the package- to assure you are getting the right amount.

iv been lactose intolerant for 30 years and have been taking lactase for 28 of those years. its been a Godsend. my daughter has the same thing since birth and she takes this as well. this product has become better over time. i have given this product to my mom and friends who have believed they were lactose intolerant as well but turns out they were allergic to the milk protein and therefor lactase doesn't work for them. PS i get my supplements from Costco "Webber naturals enzyme lactase"

I have been lactose intolerant for several years and would not know what to do if it wasn't for the lactose enzyme available over the counter. There is no question that if one is actually lactose intolerant, the lactose enzyme works!!

I've had GI problems since I was 18. At 26 I had a Niessen Foundoplacation to correct horrible GERD and hiatal hernias. I had no life prior to this with horrible chest pains. Even water set off the hernia spams. The surgery was a LIFE SAVER - my stomach valve didn't close, allowing acid to flow into esophagus and make hernias spams. The surgery created an artificial valve (see Wikipedia) & case solved for 10 years. It's now been 3 years of feeling like I had a lump inside my stomach (imagine u swallowed a rolled up wet towel). No GI Dr could help. They were clueless. After all tykes of upper GI tesst, we ruled out gluten allergy and it was boiled down to unknown food allergies - a lactose intolerance test passed with flying colors. I took every high end probiotics in the market (was spending $400 a month on these). They provided minor relieve. One fine day I forgot them at home & took this lactase/probiotic from Schiff & I felt better than ever). I still have the problem, but found that taking the 'gas' probiotic from Schiff + generic chewable tablets of lactase have returned 50% of my life back. It seems for me that it aids digesting sugars, carbs, & dairy (please note taking plain old milk presents no adverse effects 4 me) So sometimes, relieve is accidental. Try ur chewable lactase store brand. I use 2-4 9k units per sitting depending on how much sugar/I consume. Take before or after - it seems to work both ways - Schiff GAS gel caps with BC30 probiotic seems to do wonders. The original wet towel lump inside my stomach seemed to be inflammation of the intestines (my own diagnose, as Dr's, r usually helpless for me - normally I self diagnose & medicate after they fail & fail - I tend to do better. Anywho, inflammation went away with regular use of Noplaea juice (expensive, but worth every penny - my whole family uses for arthritis inflammatory pain relief. Bottom line: lactase chews can help w more than lactose intolerance in my exp - no side effRead More Read Less
