William Fredette, MD, is a pediatrician in upstate New York where he lives with his wife and three sons. Before attending medical school, Fredette worked as a writer/producer/director in public television. An underlying interest in teaching and education links the two, seemingly disparate, careers.

Fredette completed his undergraduate work in English and communications at Ithaca College. After several years in public broadcasting producing award-winning historical documentaries and interactive distance learning series for elementary school students, he returned to New York and earned his medical degree at  Albany Medical College. He completed his pediatrics residency at Albany Medical Center where he received the Otto Faust award for excellence in teaching and patient care.

Following residency, Fredette returned to the rural New York community where he grew up and entered practice. He is board certified in pediatrics and has a special interest in literacy projects.
