Are Vegan Diets Healthy?

A vegan diet can be healthy, but it does take a lot of effort.

WebMD Answers to Questions

Question:

My fiancé has recently become vegan, and I am contemplating following his lead. Is this type of diet healthy?

Answer:

The answer to your question really depends upon whom you ask.

Being a vegan can be healthy; however, it takes a lot of effort and planning to get in all the necessary nutrients. Hopefully your fiancé did research before becoming a vegan. It entails a lot more than just cutting out meat and dairy from the diet. His diet can be lacking in protein and other important nutrients if he is not very careful.

I would suggest that you research this diet carefully before you jump on board.
