How is paragonimiasis treated?

ANSWER

In most people, anti-parasite medications can cure paragonimiasis. The recommended treatment is praziquantel (Biltricide). You take it three times a day for 2 days.

In the rare cases of paragonimiasis that affect the brain, other treatments may be necessary, such as anti-seizure medications or surgery to lower brain swelling.
