Will I get any other tests in addition to a prothrombin time test?

ANSWER

It depends on what your doctor is looking for. For example, if your doctor thinks you might have a liver problem, you’ll likely get more tests to check how your liver’s working. If your doctor thinks you have a bleeding disorder, you may get tests to check for those, such as:

  • Partial thromboplastin time test
  • Platelet count
  • Thrombin time test
  • von Willebrand factor test (looks for a genetic disorder that causes nosebleeds and other bleeding problems)
