Can children with mental illness be cured?

ANSWER

When treated appropriately and early, many children fully recover from their mental illness or successfully control their symptoms.

Without treatment, many disorders can continue into adulthood and lead to problems in all areas of their adult life. People with untreated mental disorders are more likely to have problems like alcohol and drug abuse, violent and self-destructive behavior, even suicide.
